The game was tied at three runs a piece in the bottom of the eighth inning when Sugar-Salem Club’s Jack Gardner hit one-run single on a 2-0 count to seal the game for the Diggers.

Before, Gardner’s game winning hit, there had only been three scoring innings in the game game with Sugar scoring the first two runs in the third inning with Skyline taking over the lead with three run in the fourth and Sugar tying it up with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Porter Chase pitched a little over three innings in that game allowing two hits and three runs with four strikeouts and two walks. Ky Garner pitched a little over four innings allowing two hits and no runs with nine strikeouts and three walks.

Garner was also the only Digger with multiples hits going 2/4. Carson Harris recorded the other hit and it was a two-run double.

In Sugar’s other games in the tournament, they beat Malad 9-1, lost Pocatello 4-0, lost to Skyline 6-3, and beat Thunder Ridge 15-0.

Sugar’s next game is Thursday vs. Thunder Ridge A.
