For three quarters North Fremont kept pace with number one seeded Ririe in the 2A district VI semifinals Saturday but fell 44-32 to the Bulldogs after Ririe held them to three points in the final quarter.
The Huskies led by one after one then trailed by two after two then a back and fourth third was followed by a cold fourth.
We ended up giving it away in the fourth quarter.
“We played so well in the first stretch of the game and then didn’t finish in that fourth,” said North Fremont head coach Ben Lenz.
Ririe started hitting shots at a higher clip in the fourth and North Fremont almost entirely stopped hitting shots.
“(Ririe) just continued to be aggressive,” Lenz said. “We were able to hold our composure for the most part except for a stretch where they capitalized on some of our turnovers. We had a rough fourth quarter.”
Graycee Litton led the Lady Huskies with 12 points and Ellie Miller scored 11 points.
North Fremont will play Firth Monday for the second time in the double elimination tournament. When they faced off earlier in the tournament, North Fremont won 39-35.
“It’s a grudge match,” Lenz said. “We know each other so well. That makes it one of those games where you have to play well to win.”
