On Wednesday, Madison’s wrestlers defeated Shelley, 45-33, and lost to the Blackfoot Broncs, 25-54, in the Bobcat’s final dual meets of the season. Madison will now prepare for their district meet next week to qualify for the state tournament.

Against the Shelley Russetts, Noah Ingram (126), Jarom Ricks (132), Jaden Smith (152), and Hyrum Allen (195) all won by pins. Winning by a 17-1 technical fall was Tyson Clark over Shelley’s Josh Marlow at 138 while Orion Stokes won by a major decision 12-0 over Hayden Hokanson.

Against the wrestling powerhouse of Blackfoot, Madison won four of ten matches lead by Smith and Stokes with pins. Smith pinned Blackfoot’s Brock Armstrong in 1:31 at 152 while Stokes dispatched Micheal Edwards with just three seconds left in the first round.

At 160, Madison’s Roy Gunderson recorded a major decision, 11-0, against Tanner Soucie of Shelley. Clark had one of his toughest matches of the season when he used two escapes and a takedown to defeat Austin Despain, 4-2.

Madison, Thunder Ridge and Highland are expected to battle for the 5A District 5-6 title next week at Thunder Ridge.
