Few teams have kept up with the Idaho Horsemen this season.
It stayed that way Sunday evening.
The first-year arena football team completed a 13-0 perfect season with a 40-20 win over the Reno Express in the inaugural American West Football Conference Championship at the Ford Idaho Center.
The Horsemen entered the game having outscored their opponents 597-331 with an average margin of victory of 22.1 points per game. They had already beaten Reno four times by 25.2 points per game.
It was a similar result — albeit with 20-20 score at the half.
Nampa High School graduate Hayden Wright was the MVP. He completed 16-of-23 passes for 196 yards and combined for five touchdowns — three of which through the air.
Kevin Mattos caught all three of Wright’s touchdown passes while Cam Hale scored on a 2-yard run.
