Rockies State

After making it to the state tournament for the first time in AA, the East Idaho Rockies fell twice in a couple of three point games in Lewiston, Idaho last weekend.

In their Friday afternoon game, the Rockies lost 4-1 to the Nampa Chiefs. The teams were tied 1-1 after an inning and both defense shutout the other team in every other inning but the fourth when Nampa scored all three of their runs.

Dylan Rydalch pitched a little over five innings allowing ten hits and four runs with two strikeouts and a walk. Dayne Lounsbury threw four pitches allowing one hit and no runs.

Curtis Drake and McGwire Jephson made a double play.

Taran Clark and Curtis Drake each went 1/3 at the plate and Drake batted in the team’s lone run.

In their Saturday game, the Rockies lost 5-2 to the Lewis and Clark Twins. Neither team scored in the first three innings then Lewis and Clark scored 2-1-2 in the next three innings. The Rockies scored two runs in the final frame but it wasn’t enough.

Moki Jensen pitched a little over five innings allowing four hits and five runs with five strikeouts and six walks. Taran Clark pitched a little over and innings allowing two hits and no runs with five strikeouts and six walks.

Peyton Boudero made a double play for East Idaho.

Taran Clark and Moki Jensen went 1/3 at the plate and Curtis Drake went 1/2. Trey Saathoff went 1/1 and snagged the team’s lone RBI.

Their second loss knocked the Rockies out of the state tournament but East Idaho will likely return several of their better players next season.
