FREMONT COUNTY — Island Park EMS and Fremont County Search and Rescue responded to a snowmobile accident on Thursday afternoon.
According to a press release from Fremont County Search and Rescue, two snowmobiles were involved in a head-on collision on Two Top Mountain.
Fremont County Dispatch received a 911 call from one of the riders, a 14-year-old who informed dispatchers he was experiencing rib and back pain and could not ride down to the ambulance.
The other rider reported minor injuries and said he was very cold.
Island Park EMS responded, making the decision to also call out Fremont County Search and Rescue in case they were unable to retrieve riders with their med sled.
Search and Rescue responded with several snowmobiles, a rescue toboggan, and a Snowcat.
EMS reached the injured riders and brought them to safety with the med sled and snowmobile.
Madison Advanced Life Support and Island Park Ambulance transported both riders to the hospital.
The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
Fremont County Search and Rescue cautioned all individuals traveling in backcountry areas to take proper precautions.
They encouraged individuals to take necessary equipment and survival gear, including a GPS and cell phone, if possible.
