Starting on April 6, the Bobcat Fieldhouse is now open for the public.
Madison School District announced the open hours for community members on Tuesday. The facility will be open for public access Monday through Friday at 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and again in the evening from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The district earlier held an open house for the facility in March. Jessica Goudy, district director of communications, said the district was thrilled with how many people came to see the fieldhouse and grateful for the community support.
“It was much larger (the crowd) than we thought it’d be,” Goudy said.
The indoor track and tennis/pickleball courts are available on a first come first serve basis once the high school’s teams have completed practice. The fieldhouse turf is available by appointment only.
People interested in using the turf can schedule an appointment by sending an email to email@example.com.
The school district is still constructing tennis courts and fields for baseball and softball outside of the fieldhouse, said Madison High School Athletic Director Shayne Proctor.
Once complete, the fieldhouse will have nine total tennis courts and the two baseball/softball fields will be located at the west end of the facility.
Proctor said he was unsure when the outside projects would be complete, as it would depend on weather conditions.
“We don’t want to rush things,” Proctor said. “We want to take our time and do it right.”
