The Rexburg Police Department is having their annual Special Needs Picnic at Porter Park on June 11 from 11:30 a.m to 1:00 p.m.
Lieutenant Colin Erickson said this will be their 8th year having the picnic. He said that they are focused on breaking barriers and showing those with special needs that law enforcement officials, firefighters, and EMT’s are here to help.
At the picnic, there will be golf cart rides, the opportunity to look at and sit in cop cars, and free lunch. Lieutenant Erickson said they will be serving hot dogs, chips, potato salad, macaroni salad, and drinks.
This year, the police department will be giving away wristbands that say “Rexburg Police” on them as well as small police badges.
“We want them to know we’re here to help,” he said.
