She will be assisted by a Youth Conservation Corps Student (YCC) Hyrum Smith. The office will remain open until Oct 31 this year.
As to the future of the Island Park office, it will remain open and staffed seasonally during the summer months for the foreseeable future.
Firewood permits will go on sale in both Ashton and Island Park Offices June 3, 2019.
The snow is melting slowly and we have a lot of it; The Ashton/Island Park Ranger District is still under snow and none of our roads are open. Ashton/Flagg Ranch road or Reclamation Road has seven feet at the deepest point. Cave Falls Road is still snow covered as is Green Canyon Road going over to West End area. Please respect road closed signs on plowed roads; the signs are there to keep people from driving on the wet roads and causing ruts and road damage. If you drive on a Forest Service Road as it melts off, be aware and stop driving on it if you are creating ruts. This damages the road for all other users, causes the water to run down the road creating more issues and the Forest will not be out there until July or August to grade those roads.
Mesa Falls visitor Center will be open for Memorial Day as long as the snow is gone.
Most of the campground will be open for Memorial Day and that is snow dependent as well. Please call our offices or check the reservation website www.recreation.gov to see if they are in operation.
