REXBURG - The husband and father of two Madison county women found dead in their home almost two years ago has been charged.

Kenichi David Kaneko had a five-count felony criminal complaint filed against him Tuesday by the Madison County Sheriff's Office and the Madison County Prosecutors Office.

Kaneko is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of abandonment of a vulnerable adult, as well as one count of desertion and nonsupport of spouse.

If convicted of all the charges, he faces up to 44 years in prison.

The bodies of Lorraine Kaneko, 58, and her daughter Laura, 33, were found June 19, 2004, when a search warrant was executed at the Kaneko residence in Madison County to check on the physical and psychological welfare of the Kaneko women. Kenichi David Kaneko was 64 at the time his wife's and daughter's bodies were found.

The bodies were so far decomposed the cause of death has been difficult to determine, but the Madison County Sheriff's Office said the cause of death was more than likely starvation, illness or both.
