Child and Adult die in head-on crash on Highway 33 Friday night

TETONIA - Officials have released the names of those involved in Friday's Fatality on Highway 33 near milepost 131 near Tetonia.

Madelene Quissek, 45, of Tetonia was traveling eastbound on Highway 33 in a 2007 Toyota Rav 4. Myrna Izaguirre, 43, of Burien, Washington, was traveling westbound in a 2015 Toyota Rav 4. Quissek and Izaguirre's vehicles struck each other head on.

Quissek and a juvenile passenger in her vehicle succumbed to their injuries on scene. A second juvenile passenger in Quissek's vehicle and Izaguirre were transported by ground ambulance to Madison Memorial Hospital.

All occupants were wearing seat belts.

ISP was assisted at the scene by the Teton County Sheriff's Office, Teton County Fire Department, and the Idaho Transportation Department. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

TETONIA - A local child and adult died early Friday evening after a head-on collision on an East Idaho highway, the Teton County Sheriff's Office reported.

The wreck occurred on Highway 33 north of Tetonia around 6 p.m. and shut down the highway for almost three hours. Tetonia is located east of Rexburg and just west of the Wyoming border.

The names of the child and adult killed in the crash have not yet been released, but the Teton County Sheriff's Office confirmed they are from East Idaho's Teton Valley.

The adult and child who died were in a vehicle with one other person heading southbound on Highway 33. The surviving occupant in that vehicle was rushed to Madison Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries following the crash.

Authorities said the adult who died was driving the vehicle.

The second vehicle involved in the head-on collision had only one occupant, and that person was also transported to Madison Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Authorities haven't yet provided the names or conditions of the two people transported to Madison Memorial.

Idaho State Police, Teton County firefighters and ambulance personnel, the Teton County Sheriff's Office, Idaho Fish and Game and Idaho Transportation Department responded to the crash.
