Soon-to-be parents expecting to give birth in Eastern Idaho on May 29 could be the lucky winners of $529 in an Idaho college savings account. For the second year in a row, IDeal, Idaho’s state-sponsored college savings program, is teaming up with five Idaho hospitals in the 5/29 Birthday Giveaway to contribute $529 in an IDeal 529 college savings account to the first baby born at each of the participating hospitals on May 29. The 5/29 Birthday Giveaway is part of an annual statewide and national campaign to increase awareness for 529 college savings plans.

IDeal is also extending to all Idahoans an opportunity to win $529 in an IDeal 529 college savings account in a College Savings Day Sweepstakes. Idaho residents can enter the College Savings Day Sweepstakes online. Visit http://www.idsaves.org/529day to enter to win by 3 p.m. MT on Sunday, May 29.

The following hospitals are participating in IDeal’s $529 Birthday Giveaway:

• Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, in Boise

• West Valley Medical Center, in Caldwell

• St. Luke’s McCall Medical Center

• Madison Memorial Hospital, in Rexburg

• Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, in Idaho Falls

An IDeal 529 college savings account is an investment account that can be opened for the benefit of anyone by any family member, friend or loved one, and anyone can contribute to the account. Money invested in an IDeal 529 college savings account has the potential to grow and compound over time.

Idaho taxpayers who contribute can take a state tax deduction, and money can be withdrawn from an IDeal529 college savings account tax-free, if used on qualified expenses at any eligible post-secondary institution nationwide. The flexible tax advantages provide motivation for grandparents, aunts and uncles and friends of the account beneficiary to make contributions to the account.
