REXBURG - Emmy-award-winning and Grammy-nominated composer Kurt Bestor is coming to town.

Bestor plans to entertain during a benefit concert called “Peace on Earth 2018: A Kurt Bestor Christmas” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec 20, at the Madison Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10.

“As a gifted performer, Bestor has performed his popular Christmas shows for 30 years to sold-out audiences throughout the western United States,” reports Bestor’s biography.

It appears the trend is continuing as nearly half of the tickets available for the upcoming Madison concert have been sold, said Madison High School Assistant Principal Jordan Busby.

“We’ve sold over 600 tickets in the last two days," Busby said. "We’ve only got 500 tickets left."

The $10 tickets are being sold by Madison High School fine arts students.

“The beauty of this is that it’s a fundraiser for our kids," Busby said. "The sponsors paid Bestor’s performance fee. Students will say ‘Hey, buy a ticket and use my number.’ Eight dollars goes back into the kid’s fine arts account. It helps offset a travel fee. It doesn’t give them cash, but it goes into their account fees for performing and traveling all over the country. It helps everybody."

During the Madison concert, the school’s band, orchestra and choir students will accompany Bestor.

Busby says that residents are getting an incredibly good deal via the $10 tickets.

“If you were to go to Pocatello two nights before his performance here, the tickets are $48 and go up to the $100s. He’s a big name,” he said.

For nearly four decades, Bestor has written and arranged music for 30 feature films, 18 albums, several national television theme songs as well as several live shows performances. He’s also written for choirs and orchestras, reports his biography.

This is the second time that Bestor has helped with fundraising in the community. Several years ago he helped raise money for the then-new Madison High School.

“This is part of our Madison Presents Concert Series. He has a sister who lives in town,” Busby said.

Busby reports a lot of positive buzz around town about Bestor’s upcoming concert.

“Everybody we talk to is excited about him," Busby said. "He’s probably the biggest name entertainer we’ve had here as far as our Madison Presents Concert Series."
