Richard Schmitt celebrated his 80th birthday, December 27th, with his family. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they felt it was safer to limit the guests to family only.

Richard was born and raised in St. Anthony. He was a graduate of South Fremont High School and started his career as a mechanic at Parker and Stones dealership. He worked for several dealerships during the 37 years he worked outside of his home. Since retiring he has continued to work part time in his garage at home.

He has helped many people with all kinds of repairs and projects, family, friends and people he didn’t even know. He has been a good example of a kind, caring person to all who know him.

Richard is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and worked in both the Idaho Falls Temple and the Rexburg Temple for many years. He served a mission as a young man and also served a senior mission with his wife, Mary. They are the parents of 5 children: Naomi Jones, Debbie Murray, Rick Schmitt, Shane Schmitt and Kristy Rawson. They have 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
