RI school officials to discuss prayer banner case

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The legal battle over a prayer banner displayed at a Rhode Island public high school is going before school officials, who will decide whether to appeal an order to remove it that unleashed a firestorm on the 16-year-old atheist who challenged the display in federal court.

MIAMI — The metal figures standing like sentinels in the middle of an exhibit of contemporary Haitian art are created from a mishmash of scrap metal and found objects: nails, marbles, old shoes, bed springs, tire treads, hub caps, pieces of fans and other discards.

Fire damages building at LA Mormon temple

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A pre-dawn fire Tuesday badly damaged a building under construction at the nation's second-largest Mormon temple, and arson investigators were trying to determine the cause.
