REGION — Heavy thunderstorms resulted in flooding across Madison County Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory at 5:59 p.m. for Madison County that is in effect until 9:45 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, as of 5:58 p.m. an inch of rain had already fallen in the area.

Several businesses on Main Street in Rexburg had water to the entrance of their businesses.

There have also been reports of an overflown canal near Madison Junior High, resulting in flooded homes.

Rexburg Police Department shut down areas of Main Street to direct traffic away from an accident on Main Street and First East that occurred near the onset of the storm.

The Standard Journal will continue to report on the flooding.
