Man's wife remains in serious condition at EIRMC

ISLAND PARK — A man was killed and a woman seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 20 in Island Park.

The man has been identified as Clarence Frost, 87, of Salt Lake City, according to a news release from the Idaho State Police. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The woman, Rosalie Frost, 80, also of Salt Lake City, was taken by an Air Idaho Rescue helicopter to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Thursday evening she was listed in serious condition at EIRMC.

Law enforcement officials say the accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Investigation by ISP indicates that the vehicle was driven by Rosalie Frost, but officers so far have been unable to determine why the vehicle veered off the road. Both people were wearing seat belts and both airbags in the vehicle deployed.

The vehicle was headed southwest on Highway 20 just south of Pond's Lodge when the accident occurred.

Emergency responders from the Island Park Ambulance and county and state law enforcement were quickly at the scene of the accident.

A rescue helicopter from Air Idaho Rescue was immediately sent from Idaho Falls.

Highway 20 was blocked for some time in both directions to provide room for emergency vehicles and the helicopter.

Idaho State Police is continuing the investigation of the accident.
