Lady Bobcats slide past Hillcrest

Madison boys play Knights to 2-2 tie

REXBURG - The Madison Lady Bobcats continued their strong early-season play on Thursday with a 3-1 win over the Hillcrest Lady Knights at Madison Middle School in Rexburg.

Lindsay Hayes found the back of the net twice in the opening half for Madison. She scored in the fifth and 25th minutes, while Tessa Kivett scored in the 10th minute of the second half to round out the Madison scoring.

For Hayes, she has now scored six goals in the last two matches.

"(They looked) really good," said Madison girls coach Dan Dummar. "They're playing really well."

Hillcrest scored late in the opening half on a penalty kick, which resulted from a handball violation.

"Hillcrest always has been one of the strongest teams in the upper valley," Dummar said.

Madison (4-2-1) will play host to Skyline on Wednesday

Boys Soccer Madison 2, Hillcrest 2

IDAHO FALLS - The Madison Bobcats escaped Idah Falls with a 2-2 tie with the Hillcrest Knights on Thursday.

Ty Shiffler scored in the opening half to give Madison a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Hillcrest responded with two goals to take a 2-1 lead. However, Shiffler found the back of the net on an assist from Colter Shirley to round out the scoring.

"We were more in control in the first half," said Madison coach Joe Paredes. "But Hillcrest came out strong in the second half."

Madison (3-2) will host Skyline on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

South Fremont

ST. ANTHONY - The South Fremont Cougars played Aberdeen to a 1-1 tie on Thursday in St. Anthony. Misael Cisneros scored on an assist from Irving Benitez in the 23rd minute. "It was a pretty good game," said South Fremont coach Shayn Blair. "We kind of did the things we wanted." Aberdeen scored late in the match to force the tie.

"They countered attacked pretty quick," Blair said of the Aberdeen goal. "The kid shot it out here, and our kids

couldn't match up. But it was a tough shot."

Girls Soccer So. Fremont 2, Aberdeen 1

The Lady Cougars picked up their first win of the season in a 2-0 decision over Aberdeen on Thursday.

Lindy Gigiga and Jessica Fullmer scored for South Fremont.

"It was a good win," said South Fremont coach Steve Rowley. "It was good to have a couple of practices since our last game."
