"It's a big win for us in the fifth district," said Sugar-Salem coach Jay Miller.
The Diggers, who scored at least 12 points in each of the four periods Thursday night, were sparked by senior Mason Miller, who finished with a game-high 25 points.
"He gave us some real key offensive stuff," coach Miller said of the Sugar-Salem senior.
The key to the win for Sugar-Salem was its ability to play under control.
"We really stayed poised when we needed to," the Sugar-Salem coach said. "And in the second half, we stepped up and rebounded better."
Shawn Rowe finished with 15 points for Marsh Valley.
"Defensively, we really did a decent job of shutting down their shooters," coach Miller said.
Sugar-Salem (2-1) will play host to Firth on Tuesday. And coach Miller expects his team to have its hand full with the 2A school.
"They're a very good team," he said. "They're big. They move fast and are very athletic. We are really going to have to cowboy up."
